B'Tselem reageerde met de volgende tekst: 'US President Donald Trump has announced he recognizes Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. Since annexing East Jerusalem unlawfully in 1967, Israel has never recognized the rights of Palestinians who live there nor treated them as equals. Trump's announcement does not change the fact a large part of Jerusalem is occupied territory, in which residents are deprived of political rights. This is the reality that must change.' Combatants for Peace: 'Combatants for Peace opposes President Trump's declaration, which disconnects and diverges from peace negotiations between both sides. The movement is committed to the principle that Jerusalem's status, as regards both parties' and the three religions' links to it, will only be decided through mutual negotiation - and not by decree or any other way - while respecting the acknowledgement of the Palestinian people's right to its state and self-determination. Within the Combatants for Peace movement, we emphasize clearly that East Jerusalem is the Palestinian state's capital and that both parties have a connection to the city. As former combatants we are committed to the path of dialogue and nonviolent resistance to end the occupation and violence.' (Bron: facebook.)

Parents Circle: 'American Friends of the Parents Circle - Families Forum, in the name of 600 Israeli and Palestinian families who have all lost children, sisters, brothers, parents, husbands and wives to a conflict which should have ended long ago, strongly opposes President Trump’s unilateral recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital today and the movement of the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem. This is not the way to peace, Mr. President.

The members of the Parents Circle, who have paid the highest price of the conflict, know very well the cost of violence. Basssam Aramin, a bereaved Palestinian father, whose daughter was killed in front of her school in the outskirts of Jerusalem says, “We have killed each other in the name of the love of Jerusalem, but we who understand the consequences of the violence, understand that when we meet each other under the ground, the only winners are the graves.”

Rami Elhanan, a 7th generation Jerusalemite, and bereaved Israeli father who lost his daughter, Smadar in a suicide bombing in Jerusalem says, “Not one Jerusalem stone is worth even one drop of blood of one little girl.”

The Parents Circle is committed to dialogue and mutual understanding between Israelis and Palestinians. The consequences of your decision are dire: you are ruining the last vestige of hope we have to prevent further bereavement, by placing another nail in the coffin of peace.' (Bron: facebook.)

Peace Now schrijft, 'President Trump’s declaration on Jerusalem is Bad News for Israel'.

'Jerusalem is the Capital of Both Peoples: Palestinians and Israelis March Together in Protest and Hope.

The future of Jerusalem is for us to decide. Together. We invite you to march with us and model an alternative to the one-sided and aggressive approach of the American President. Jerusalem is holy and dear to all of us. The future of Jerusalem will only be decided by a peace agreement between the two peoples, with East Jerusalem as the capital of Palestine and West Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.'
